Records of My Travels in Okinawa ~vol.4 Buku Buku Tea~

I visited a cafe called "Churara". Here, you can drink a traditional Okinawa tea called "Bukubuku-chya".

"Buku Buku" is a Japanese language word that expresses a sound or a state where bubbles come out one after another.

The main ingredients are brown rice and white rice.

Then, these are bubbled with a bamboo whisk and a large bowl.

It's a simple taste and smells like sweetish jasmine. It was like eating bubbles.

If Japanese people drink this tea, they will feel like a something like nostalgia. We express a simple taste by saying "Natsukashii aji = nostalgic taste". Because, we are reminded of old memories like eating mother's simple home cooking with a rustic taste. Is this common to all nations, I wonder?

This cafe is a Japanese-style room. You will be cheered up by a cute sign dog here. His name is Secom.

Yawning
Super cute!

This cafe is the perfect place to create fun memories in Okinawa. Don't miss it!
